NORCAL Rule 4.01.1 - New Mite Player Eligibility
4.01.1
New mite-age players must sign up to play at a rink no
further than thirty (30) miles from their primary residence
unless approved by NORCAL. If there is no rink within 30
miles of the player’s primary residence, the player must
sign up to play at the rink closest to their primary
residence.
Note the rule applies only to
new mite-age players playing mite hockey. A new mite player
is a mite aged player not previously playing for a NORCAL
Mite travel team. A mite-aged player who by age would be a
second year mite but who has not played NORCAL travel hockey
previously, may play as a squirt and not be under the
jurisdiction of rule 4.01.1
-
To sign up at a rink, a new
mite player must provide (or the receiving club can provide)
a Google map showing driving directions from the player’s
legal residence to the rink. The Google map must list a
mileage of less than 30.0 miles.
-
To establish legal residence,
a mite player must provide a current utility bill showing
the player’s legal guardian as the account holder on the
bill with the address the same as that provided as residence
on the Google map.
-
If a player’s legal residence
is not within 30 miles of a rink, the player must
demonstrate that the rink where they are attempting to
register is the closest rink to their legal residence as
established in #2 above that has a mite program.
If the rink is more than 30
miles from the player’s legal residence or is not the
closest rink to the player’s legal residence, the player
must appeal in writing to the General Manager at
hamer.j@covad.net. The General Manager will investigate
and decide whether or not to issue a waiver.
If the waiver is denied, the
player may appeal the decision in writing. The General
Manager will appoint a committee made up of three members of
the Executive Board who will have 10 days to hear the
appeal. If the appeal is denied, the player may appeal to
the full NORCAL Board at its next regularly scheduled
meeting.
The player may not register
with an illegal rink without a waiver.
